Give these Sydney for-purpose businesses some love

Lockdowns suck. There are no two ways around that. And for our friends in Sydney & NSW - this one is a doozy.

What doesn’t suck though is the amazing work being done by for-purpose businesses that continue to support the community and fight for the environment through these very, very challenging times.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again - doing good feels pretty darn good.

So if you’re prone to a spot of retail therapy, or you’ve got a soft spot for delicious food and drink - make your vices taste and feel that extra bit better by shopping with one of these brilliant for-purpose businesses.

Just doing a little switch to for-purpose is enough to make a difference - even when you’re stuck at home.

Newtown: Lentil as Anything Newtown provide vegetarian meals on a pay as you feel/can basis to ensure those with limited financial resources can access a healthy meal with dignity. Drop-in for takeaway (BYO container!) or order via Ubereats.

Macquarie Park: Darcy Street Project is giving hundreds of meals away to shelters, food pantries and charities across Sydney. You can contribute simply by choosing them for your next takeaway, Ubereats or click and collect meal!

Across New South Wales (also QLD, VIC & ACT!): Naked Foods are the perfect spot to grab your healthy, mostly organic and plastic-free treats! Taking online orders.

Bondi: Heart Cafe are open for take away coffee and delicious meals and snacks which create employment opportunities for youth-at-risk in a supportive workplace.

Online: hit Aggie Global up if you’re wanting to support local and send a family member a gift during lockdown. Their gift boxes are filled with 100% Australian made ethically sourced products that help you explore the taste of the bush.

Online: With The Good Good every cup of tea is, well exxxtra good! Their range of organic and premium blends taste amazing and can help you feel more relaxed, energized and focused. Plus 50% of profits fun access to education for disadvantaged kids in Australia.

Online: with Mood Tea you can brew up mood-enhancing teas, fighting youth suicide with every cup. All profits are directed towards mental health projects for young people.

Across Sydney: The Bread and Butter Project is baking up the kindest bread around! By supporting this social enterprise, you’re helping them provide baker training and employment pathways for communities in need. Look out for their bread and pastries and find them on this little map.

Newtown: The Social Outfit is adding colour to dark times, by selling beautiful ethical fashion and accessories (and masks of course!) whilst providing refugees and new migrants with training and work opportunities.

Online: a bit random maybe, but we love The Very Good Bra! Bras, briefs and sleepwear made in organic cotton or tencel, 100% plastic and synthetics free and botanically circular. That means they can be home composted at the end of their life. Fun gift idea?
